Guardarsi l'ombelico (su scala galattica)

Restando in tema di SETI, c'è sempre quel vecchio problema posto da Fermi: "Dove sono tutti quanti?" (nel senso di altre forme di vita intelligente nella galassia). Le due spiegazioni più semplici e popolari sono sempre state 1) non ci sono 2) si sono già estinte/autodistrutte.

Ma secondo uno psicologo del New Mexico, invece, stanno tutti chiusi in casa a giocare con la Xbox:

They forget to send radio signals or colonize space because they’re too busy with runaway consumerism and virtual-reality narcissism. They don’t need Sentinels to enslave them in a Matrix; they do it to themselves, just as we are doing today. They become like a self-stimulating rat, pressing a bar to deliver electricity to its brain’s ventral tegmental area, which stimulates its nucleus accumbens to release dopamine, which feels…ever so good.
